PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT TRAINING SYSTEM

 

The goal of the system is to empower a NON-INJURED ATHLETE with the knowledge on how to continue to prevent and avoid injury. The training system includes education on: Body Maintenance Training and Sport Specific Movement Skills to optimize performance. 

PARTS OF THE INTEGRATED APPROACH

FOUNDATIONAL MOVEMENT 
THERAPY

Foundational Movement Therapy (FMT) is a therapy that gets to the root cause of injury or pain. This is accomplished by assessing a clients postural misalignments and structural imbalances and then correcting them using therapeutic exercises and adjustments to everyday movement patterns such as walking, standing, sitting, sleeping and sport specific movements.

 

FASCIAL STRETCH 
THERAPY

Facial Stretch Therapy (FST) is a modified proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PnF) based client assisted flexibility system. FST combines innovative, passive, active and assisted mobility and stretching movement patterns. Therapists use hands on direct techniques on a table with stabilization straps to assess and remove restrictions to movement within joints, muscles, fascia and the nervous system.

 

BODY MAINTENANCE TRAINING

Is an injury prevention and treatment-based session that teaches unique stretching and foam rolling techniques. This Body Maintenance Training system was initially created from necessity to eliminate Coach Mike’s personal injuries but quickly became a powerful tool to educate all of his athletes on injury prevention.

SPORT SPECIFIC FOUNDATIONAL
MOVEMENT SKILLS

Although there is not one right swimming, biking or running technique there are things that an athlete can do to get him or herself out of harms way. A sport specific movement analysis takes an athlete from where they are and eliminates injury causing habits and inefficiencies by doing simple modifications to technique, posture and sport specific movements. All of this while under the watchful eye of an experienced Performance Coach that specializes in biomechanical analysis and structural imbalances.

2 Goals of the Performance Enhancement Training System

GOAL #1

Improve sport specific mobility and flexibility

You will receive a combined session including: Fascial Stretch Therapy that targets improving your sport specific mobility and flexibility and also learn what to do on your own during a Body Maintenance Training session.

GOAL #2

Improve Sport Specific Foundational Movement Skills 

You will learn techniques and drills to improve the efficiency of your sport specific movement patterns during your swim, bike and run.

PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT APPOINTMENT GOALS

Improve Sport Specific Mobility and Flexibility

Assessment

  1. Standing assessment – assess posture and muscle balance
  2. Walking assessment – analyze gait + muscle imbalances
  3. Discuss best steps and move into treatment

Approximately 30 mins

Treatment

  1. Combined FMT + FST treatment including:
  • The use of FMT therapeutic exercises to correct structural imbalances and postural misalignments
  • A hands on FST session targeting specific muscle groups

Approximately 60 mins

Injury Prevention Plan

  1. Body Maintenance Training session teaching stretching and foam rolling techniques
  2. Discuss a plan for moving forward (future appointments + next steps)
  3. A take away prescription including videos or pictures of FMT therapeutic exercises and stretches will be provided (emailed same day)

Improve Sport Specific Foundational Movement Skills

Swim Analysis

  1. Assess and correct swim movements, positions and technique that will cause inefficiency or injury
  2. Work on drills and technique revisions
  3. Take away slow motion video analysis of both old and new technique
  4. Discuss a plan for moving forward (future appointments + next steps)
  5. Take away techniques and drills for future reference
  6. A one month training program provided on Training Peaks including the appropriate drills and progressions to adapt to the new techniques

First appointment:
60 min – $149.00 + gst *

Additional appointments:
60 min – $139.00 + gst *

Bike Analysis

  1. Indoor OR outdoor assessment: discuss and correct cadence, pedal stroke and bike positions and technique that will cause inefficiency or injury
  2. Work on drills and technique revisions
  3. Take away slow motion video analysis of both old and new technique
  4. Discuss a plan for moving forward (future appointments + next steps)
  5. Take away techniques and drills for future reference
  6. A one month training program provided on Training Peaks including the appropriate drills and progressions to adapt to the new techniques

First appointment:
90 min – $149.00 + gst 

Additional appointments:
90 min – $139.00 + gst 

Running Analysis

  1. Indoor OR outdoor assessment: Assess and correct cadence, foot strike, body position, arm position and uphill and downhill running technique that will cause inefficiency or injury
  2. Work on drills and technique revisions
  3. Take away slow motion video analysis of both old and new technique
  4. Discuss a plan for moving forward (future appointments + next steps)
  5. Take away techniques and drills for future reference
  6. A one month training program provided on Training Peaks including the appropriate drills and progressions to adapt to the new techniques
